We had just put down Riya, our dog of 6+ years. Getting another dog was not on any of our minds. But life had other plans for us.
Just a month or so later, my mother heard the cries of a puppy coming from beyond the walls of our gated society. It was peak monsoons in Goa so there were heavy rains almost all the time. With the help of a flashlight, my mother saw this jet-black scrawny puppy hiding amongst some thick bushes. My mother then began to feed her every day, she was extremely timid and scared and wouldn’t come out of the bushes.
