It all began when Raman wanted to surprise his wife, Deepannwita with a dog for her birthday. The couple had always discussed having a dog someday and they had their heart set on bringing home a Beagle.
Raman reached out to us expressing his interest for a dog. He told us he wants to adopt a puppy as they want to spend as many years as possible with their pet. This would be their first dog as a couple. While Deepannwita had a dog growing up, Raman was completely new to the pet parenting experience. As we understood them, their lifestyle and capabilities, we realized that they would do best with a breed that was strong, loving and easy to care for. It also became apparent that while they always had their eyes set on having a Beagle, Raman was open to considering any breed. And so, we sent him Molly’s profile. Molly is an Indian Pariah dog with soulful eyes, a wagging tail and irresistible charm. In less than a minute, we heard back from Raman – “I love her! I’ve got goosebumps!” He loved everything he read about her on the profile and fell in love with her pictures.
Next, it was time to meet Molly! Safe to say that they fell head over heels for her and the feeling was mutual! Molly adored them too! She couldn’t get enough of them and clambered all over Raman and Deepannwita and covered them in kisses. They decided that they had to have her and so, Molly found her forever home. On 18th September 2022, they eagerly welcomed her into their beautiful home, becoming proud ‘pawrents’ to their beloved Molly.
As days turned into weeks and weeks into months, Molly’s presence brought immeasurable joy into their lives. She is now the center of their lives and is the queen of the house! From strolls and playdates in Cubbon park to holidaying in the hill stations, Molly is truly living the best life!
In June 2023, we had the honor of attending Molly’s birthday party. Raman and Deepannwita went all out to ensure she had the most special day. Molly was surrounded by people and dogs that loved her including her rescuer, Swarnima Nishant, without whom, this adoption would not have been possible. There was cake, dog treats, a pool for her to splash around in, open space for her to run and play with her doggy friends..it was an incredible party. It warmed our hearts to see the beautiful life they have crafted so thoughtfully for Molly.
The story of Molly, the Indian pariah dog, is a testament to the incredible bond that can form between humans and their furry friends, regardless of breed or origin. Indian pariah dogs are often overlooked due to their mixed breed lineage but they are in fact incredibly intelligent, resilient and make remarkable companions. After all, as the famous Hindi song goes, “dekhi lakh lakh pardesi girl, ain’t nobody like my desi girl!”
